Summerschool in Immunotoxicology is a not-for-profit association founded by Prof. J. Descotes in 1991. The major achievement of the association has been to organize an annual summerschool, which is now the longest-lasting scientific event entirely devoted to immunotoxicology in the world.

The Immunotoxicology Specialty Section of SOT (US Society of Toxicology) was created in 1990 with Jack Dean as its first president. Since then, Imtox markedly expanded its membership and sponsored a steadily increasing number of educational and scientific events held at annual SOT meetings. ITCASS, the Immunotoxicology and Chemical Allergy Speciality Section of Eurotox (the Federation of National Societies of Toxicology) was created in 1996 and J. Descotes was its first president. ITCASS contributes to the scientific program of annual Eurotox meetings and organized periodic symposias focused on immunotoxicology.
